It integrates all of the functionality of an intelligent in vehicle power management controller incorporating a comprehensive input/output switching module, and an MDT interface, in one standalone unit.
The eVC provides a one box solution to the requirement of controlling the lights and sirens in a police car. It is able to operate as a stand-alone system (via the buttons on the Futronics monitor) or under the control of the Mobile Data Terminal. This module is easier to wire, expand and install, has advanced fault finding capabilities and is designed to integrate seamlessly with the Futronics eMC2 Core 2 Duo Computer and its associated intelligent monitor.
When installed alongside the new Futronics eCM and eMC2, a complete state-of the-art system is created. This system can provide everything from full power management, control of all lights etc. to 3G/HSDPA dual communications, GPS, remote monitoring, camera control, and even AVLS. These include a GPS receiver, USB to RS232 converters, and dual 3G modems. The system runs checks on start up to give quick diagnostic status reports. In built modems within the module give the additional benefit of remote access functionality, including remote vehicle location, monitoring, and even operator control via SMS messages.
The technical assessment of these two new modules is currently being undertaken within Merseyside Police Force prior to further roll out within the fleet. More information about the Futronics data solutions can be accessed on: www.futronics.net

More Horse Power - The Police Car of the Future alongside the Police Horse of the Year!
Maidstone UK, September 2008 - Recently Futronics the leading integrators of mobile data technology for the police and emergency services were proud sponsors of the 2008 Police Horse of the Year show hosted by Merseyside Police. This exciting event was held on the doors step of this years’ capital of Culture, Liverpool at the world renowned Aintree Equestrian Centre, home of the country’s most prestigious Grand National horse race.
The event attracted over 1000 visitors from the public who came to see a variety of fun displays and vehicles on show. Visitors to the event also had the opportunity to check out fire and rescue vehicles, and the very latest crime fighting tool to hit the streets of Merseyside… the new BMW Traffic vehicle, which is fully equipped to help the police track criminal activity and catch criminals on Merseyside. The vehicle has a very advanced computer system (eMC2 Core 2 Duo PC) on board which was developed by Futronics in partnership with Merseyside police.
This clever computer system enables live checks to be done, it controls the lights, sirens and text bars, and it also controls several cameras in the car that can make recordings inside and outside. It can access police databases, Sat Nav, read number plates, take finger print readings, and even has a down link with helicopters.
So it is a pretty advanced piece of kit, all of which helps officers on Merseyside to have access to important information at the road side. As a result they are not required to make such frequent trips back to the station so officers are able to be out on the roads policing the streets.
Futronics have just acquired new offices in Liverpool, with a strong support team to assist Merseyside Police with the roll out of more of these vehicles across the city. Merseyside Police have already reported that with the introduction of such vehicles with Mobile Data Computers on board they have contributed to cutting crime on Merseyside by 18%.
Futronics Managing Director Anthony D Parfitt presented the most prestigious award of Police Horse of The Year alongside Chief Constable Bernard Hogan–Howe. Parfitt states “ it was fantastic to be involved in such as valuable community event. The public showed a great interest in the various ways officers demonstrated they are tackling crime, and the vital technology tools that Merseyside Police are using to cut crime, we look forward to continuing our working partnership with the force.”
